Bracken’s Brown Beauty has earned a dominant status in the horticulture community due to several unique qualities and attributes. It reaches maturity in 15 to 20 years. This Southern Magnolia evergreen is native to North America and is characterized by large, beautiful saucer-shaped, fragrant flowers. From youth to maturity, it grows in a dense and uniform manner with upright multiple branching, shiny dark green leaves and a stunning soft brown backing. The wholeness of the Bracken’s form is created by its growth habit of multiple branching breaks from each spent flower, making it one of the fullest magnolia cultivars available. The natural form is slightly pyramidal to an upright oval with a trunk that grows straight through the center of the tree. The unique characteristics of this evergreen lends itself to great versatility of use in landscape projects. From screen plantings to lawn ornamentation, to highway medians, the Southern Magnolia is sure to be admired for its beauty and makes quite a statement in a landscape setting.
